To solve the problem, you will have to find out your outgoing and incoming server names and correct your account settings. Contact your email service provider for:

The name of the incoming mail server (POP3)
Your account name and password
The name of the outgoing mail server (SMTP server)
If the server requires authentication.

To correct your account settings:

Choose Tools > Accounts from the Outlook Express menu.
In the Internet Accounts dialog box, select your account and click the Properties button.
Click the Servers tab and check the name of the incoming mail server (POP3), the name of the outgoing mail server (SMTP), account name, password and authentication options.

Why does Outlook Express block my email attachments?

Outlook Express 6 includes a new Virus Protection feature—it does not let you open attachments that could potentially be a virus. If you are sure that your attachments are safe, you can disable this protection. To access your email attachments:

Click the Security tab of the Tools > Options dialog box.
Uncheck the checkbox labeled "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus".
After you've opened the attachments, don't forget to turn protection back on (if you want to).
